BASIC RIDERS COURSES-Updated (BRC-u) start on Friday night for classroom with Saturday and Sunday riding for persons with little or no riding experience; the School provides the training motorcycle. Satisfactory completion waives road test requirement to facilitate obtaining a cycle endorsement. The preliminary requirements to be admitted into a BRC-u are: 1) you must hold a valid driver's license or driving permit and  2)  you must be at least 15-years of age and 3) you must complete a pre-course assignment. Satisfactory completion waives the skills test (also known as the "road test') requirement when applying to the State for a cycle endorsement. 

IF A CLASS DATE LISTED BELOW IS MARKED "FULL" AND YOU REQUEST THAT DATE, YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED PRE-PAID STAND-BY STATUS TO THAT CLASS. IT IS COMMON THAT A NUMBER OF REGISTERED STUDENTS WILL NOT APPEAR; IN 2016, NO PREPAID STAND-BY STUDENT WAS TURNED-AWAY, HOWEVER, WE CANNOT GUARENTEE YOUR ADMISSION. THERE IS NO REFUND IF YOU DO NOT GAIN ADMISSION. IF YOU APPEAR AND DO NOT GAIN ADMISSION TO YOUR DESIRED CLASS, YOU CAN REQUEST STAND-BY STATUS TO ANY OTHER CLASS THIS CALENDAR YEAR WITHOUT ADDITIONAL CHARGE.

THE ANTICIPATED TRAINING DATES FOR 2017 (SUBJECT TO CHANGE) ARE AS FOLLOWS: 28-30 APRIL (FULL), 5-7 MAY (FULL), 19-21 MAY (FULL & NO MORE STANDBY), 26-28 MAY (FULL), 9-11 JUNE (FULL), 16-18 JUNE (FULL), 23-25 JUNE (FULL), 21-23 JULY (FULL, not accepting additional pre-paid standby students). Hope to see you in 2018!   

BRC-u classroom hours and location: Friday night, arrive by 5:45 P.M. for CHECK-IN;  FINAL CHECK-IN DEADLINE IS 6:00 P.M. SHARP. The Friday class ends approximately 9:30 P.M. LOCATION: Media Center Room, Suttons Bay High School, 500 S. Elm St., Suttons Bay; enter through the High School front door. On the first day of class, you will be assigned multiple hours of range riding on Saturday and Sunday, therefore, keep both those days open on your schedule.

RETURNING RIDER BASIC RIDER'S COURSE-updated (RRBRC-u).  A one-day course for those who already have basic rider skills and who want to refresh and advance those basic skills.  Satisfactory completion of the course waives the skills test (also known as the "road test") requirement for obtaining a cycle endorsement.  Three of the preliminary requirements to take the RRC are:  1) you must hold a valid driver's license, with OR without a cycle endorsement, 2) you must have basic rider skills and 3) you must be at least 18-years of age as younger persons must take the BRCu.  If you request and obtain written authorization from the Program Manager, you may use your own motorcycle in the RRC, otherwise, you will be assigned a School motorcycle.  On your assigned class day, it is recommended you arrive by 6:45 A.M. but the final cutoff arrival time is 7:00 A.M. SHARP. Satisfactory completion waives the road test requirement when applying to the State for a cycle endorsement. The available training date for 2017 is: 15 JULY (FULL)

FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. We offer motorcycle training on a "first come first serve" basis, however, to receive training on that basis we must have both your application and payment. Admission priority is given to Michigan residents.

ATTENDANCE. You should arrive 15-minutes before the scheduled class and training session start times. In fairness to those students who do arrive on time and because of the need to present the training on a schedule, if you are not present by any of the class or range session start times, you will not be allowed to start or continue in the training. You should check the cyclesafety.training website on the Friday afternoon of your scheduled start day to see if there has been a class cancellation or schedule change.

REFUNDS & TRANSFERS. The registration fee is not refundable and not transferrable to another date or person. Once you have been assigned to a class date,  you may not transfer to another date without paying an additional registration fee.  If you obtain earlier admission by being a "walk-in" student, your registration fee does not transfer as you are paying for your confirmed date.

You will now be taken to the add a student section where you enter your name and in the STUDENT ID and GRADE boxes enter MSF then click ADD A NEW STUDENT and click CONTINUE and you will be taken to the screen where you can pay by check or you can click the credit card/Paypal /link. If you have difficulty utilizing the online payment system, you may mail a completed application with a $50.00 check, payable to Suttons Bay Public Schools, to: Suttons Bay Public Schools, Motorcycle Safety Program, c/o PO Box 1, Birmingham MI 48012. If you loose your course completion card, you will be charged a $50.00 administrative fee to issue a new card.

PARENTAL APPROVAL : Persons 15-17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when they first check-in on Friday night to approve the enrollment.

HOW YOUR REGISTRATION IS FINALIZED.  Even though you request a particular training date and receive an online receipt for payment, you are not assigned to a particular class until you receive an email from the Program Manager specifically assigning you to a particular class.  If you do not receive that email within 2-business days, call 231-846-8444.
